ABIJAH ROBINSON

Abijah Robinson was born in Washington county, Virginia, August 18th, 1829, and in 1830 to Putnam county where the subject of this sketch passed his boyhood days. He served as justice of the peace, postmaster and county commissioner of Putnam county. He studied the science of medicine and practiced in Hendricks and Boone counties. He married in Hendricks county, in October, 1857 and some three years after he located to Lebanon, and continued to practice his profession until disabled by physical infirmities. In 1860 he was elected trustee of Center township and again in 1863. In 1866 he was elected county commissioner and served one term. He was deputy postmaster during the time William Zion was postmaster. He at one time edited the Boone County Ledger, published in Lebanon and was connected with The Patriot under D.E. Caldwell's management. He assisted in the organization of the First National Bank in Lebanon, in 1872, and acted as assistant book-keeper for several years. In all of which public trusts he discharged his duties honestly and fidelity. He had been a great sufferer from a sore leg for some years past, and for the last six months he was confined to his bed. He died Saturday, March 6, about 4 o'clock p.m. He leaves a widow and three children. - thanks muches to Kim H
